Teaching Ethnic Studies Under Racialized Policy Constraint: Latinx Teachers, Latcrit, and Curricular Restraint In Texas

This qualitative comparative case study examines how two Latinx secondary Ethnic Studies teachers in Texas sustained core commitments under HB 3979. Drawing on LatCrit, findings suggest that teachers named racism and omission, challenged dominant narratives through critical disciplinary inquiry, and practiced strategic curricular restraint amid racialized policy constraints.
