Looking Left To Fight “Right”: Using Critical Citizenship To Problematize Vilified Global Progressive Movements In Social Studies Curriculum

This paper examines how Global South progressive movements are villainified within social studies curriculum. Drawing on critical citizenship education and Global South theory, we argue for a hemispheric framework that expands civic imagination by interrogating how geopolitical narratives shape which forms of political action are considered legitimate.
