“Coming Here, It’s Completely Different”: Analyzing The Racialized Thinking of Two Rural High School Graduates Amidst Their Community and School Contexts
This “projects in progress” session explores how rural students construct conceptualizations of race/ism in the absence of intentional teaching around race/ism in the social studies classroom. The study considers interview data from two recent high school graduates, a social studies teacher, and community members all from the same rural community.
