Shifting Stances: Teacher Candidates’ Evolving Conceptions of Controversy In The Classroom
This study examines how and why teacher candidates’ commitment to discussion of controversial issues shifts during teacher education experiences. Using coursework and practicum reflection data, it analyzes shifting conceptions and explores strategies to sustain controversial, political discourse as an ongoing, contextual and humanizing practice rather than a fetishized, stand-alone strategy.
