From Land Acknowledgement To Origin Story To A Call For Kindness: One Black Woman Teacher Educator’s Counterstory

An undergraduate social studies methods course opening routine, shifts from empty land acknowledgment to an unapologetically Black woman scholar’s origin story to a call for kindness. Grounded in CRT’s counternarrative, this story circle narrative interrogates pedagogical defiance as a critical practice operating within the contemporary DEI countercurrents shaping teacher education.
