Dialogic History Teaching: A Collective Reading of Borderlands

This paper shares analysis of one history teacher’s design and mediation of a collective reading of Gloria Anzaldúa’s Borderlands. We argue the activity reflected qualities of dialogic history education, and illustrate how openings, deepenings, and widenings created a co-constructive learning experience that centered students lived experiences and identity negotiations.
