Real Democracy Would Make A Boring Game: How Games May Undermine Civic Preparation and What They Are Still Good For
While games are touted as sites of developmental democracy, their mechanics often contradict the behaviors required for pluralist society. We propose two alternative views of games: (a) as engines of sociological imagination, and (b) as preparation for future learning, both of which position students to interrogate and reimagine systemic structures.
