The Primacy of Place In Picture Books About Water Pollution: Place Attachment In Picture Book Biographies of Women In Environmental Conservation
This presentation examines how picture book biographies portray the childhood places of women in environmental conservation fields. Using theories of place attachment, I analyze both text and illustration to explore how childhood relationships with place are depicted as foundational to later environmental civic engagement and conservation activism.
