Preservice Secondary Social Studies Education Students’ Evaluations of Ai and Instagram: Results From An Eyetracking Study

This mixed-methods study utilized eye-tracking technology to investigate how students apply civic online reasoning heuristics when analyzing AI overviews and short-form videos. Analysis shows real-time cognitive processing and attentional focus while evaluating online sources during a task-based experiment. Findings provide insights relevant to digital literacy instruction in social studies.
