Are Youth Turning Away From Democracy? A Symposium of Perspectives From The Us and Canada

This symposium presents two parallel U.S. and Canadian studies examining how youth understand democracy amid global democratic decline. Findings from U.S. high school focus groups and Canadian young adult interviews explore beliefs about democracy’s meaning, health, and desirability, aiming to inform efforts to strengthen young people’s commitment to democratic institutions.
