Understanding The Link: Disparities In Social Studies Interest and Voter Registration Rates

Students’ (dis)interest in social studies—the vehicle for civic and citizenship education—has been a long-standing, yet understudied, issue. Using the nationally representative High School Longitudinal Study of 2009, this study found that interest in social studies observed in adolescence is a strong predictor of voter registration status in adulthood.
