From Strikes To Silences: An Analysis of Labor History In K-12 U.S. History Standards
This mixed-methods study analyzes K-12 social studies standards across 50 states to examine frequency, framing, and omission of labor history. Drawing on critical consciousness and history-from-below frameworks, it reveals ideological matters that marginalize working-class experiences, temporally silo labor history, and shape understanding, curricular priorities, and perceptions of social class.
