Discomfort At The Crossroads: Rethinking Social Studies Education Through Affective Engagement With Difficult History
This study examines how teacher discomfort in engaging with difficult histories reshapes social studies education. Drawing on Korean teachers’ experiences in cross-national professional development, it conceptualizes discomfort as an affective infrastructure that reorganizes learning and opens space for ethical reorientation toward justice, care, and relational responsibility.
