At The Crossroads of History and Citizenship: Teacher Mediation and Civic Learning In Quebec Classrooms

This study examines how civic learning is enacted within Quebec’s History of Quebec and Canada program. Drawing on teacher interviews, findings show that civic education is not structured by curriculum but emerges through teacher mediation, resulting in uneven, implicit, and often limited opportunities for student civic development.
