Surfacing Insurgent Potentials: Counterinsurgency and Acts of Refusal With Black and Brown Youth In K-12 Schools

This project situates anti-Black schooling in the context of counterinsurgency legitimizes the state’s acts of racialized violence. Drawing on critical ethnographic vignettes over a three-year period with two Black educators, this study explores and conceptualizes what resistance to counterinsurgent schooling might be through the praxis of care and joy.
