Dialogic Instruction Supporting Critical Interaction In A 6th Grade Classroom

In this critical case study, we analyze transcripts of classroom instruction to explore one teacher’s facilitation of dialogic instruction that leverages students’ home knowledge and perspectives, in the context of social studies inquiry. We identify pedagogical moves that position students as knowledge constructors, challenging oft-assumed classroom hierarchies and roles.
