Migrant Critical Theory (migrantcrit) As A Theoretical Framework In Understanding Migration and Migrants’ Experiences In U.S. Social Studies Education

Given rising anti-migrant hostility in the U.S., social studies should respond to migrant students’ realities and equip them with relevant civic skills. This proposal introduces Migrant Critical Theory, a framework guiding educators to analyze curricular materials on migration and center migrants’ lived experiences to foster a critically relevant social studies.
