“Why Don’t They Fight Back?”: Third Graders Question Power Through A Unit On Refugees

This study examines how third-graders worked to understand the unequal power dynamics between societal groups, which led to the forcible displacement of marginalized members. While students initially struggled, some eventually demonstrated a nascent grasp of the role of power in this issue, a first step towards challenging the status quo.
