“I Can Hear The Students ‘Wait, There’s Rules?’”: Social Studies Teachers Wrestle With How To Teach The Rules For War and War Crimes In The American South.
This research centers in-service social studies teachers theorizing about teaching the rules of war and war crimes. Participants were engaged in a professional development sequence. Teachers discussed texts, a sample unit and shared how they might teach war crimes. Participants struggled with the politics, trauma and complications of this content.
