Instructional Practices Observed By Preservice Teachers In Restrictive Policy Environments
We examine instructional practices observed by 24 preservice teachers during field placements in two states with restrictive educational policies. Drawing on Bourdieu's concept of habitus, analysis reveals differences in discussion-based pedagogy and material sourcing between states, raising questions about how policy environments shape what preservice teachers learn teaching to be.
